Talking To Me?

Once again, this is my attempt at using David Cole's tutorial with little success. Every time I use this program, I get different results.

It's my kind of painting and I like it a lot. You've captured the casual, relaxed pose and high-lighted the subject superbly. I think a definite success. 5

SD Painter says:

I really like what you have done with the negative space via loose brush work, and interesting that your using lighter shades on those same brush strokes uniquely framing the center of focus of this painting.

GeorgeB says:

Bob-This is a technique I've tried several time and each time it came out different. But I keep trying. It's good to have you visit and comment.

SD Painter says:

Took a look at the David Cole demo you mention here. He has alot of good techniques. I am in Catalina taking some reference photos for some future paintings and vacationing as well. I will have to try some of David's ideas. Amoung my favorites of his ideas are to use a larger brush to remove some of the details in the paintings for use later for the background brushing in, knowing where and when to use detail is a tricky biziness in this Corel Painter world. The new version of Photoshop is coming out soon, a few weeks. I will let you know what I think of it. Thinking of doing some group on line tutorials on some topics like using perspective in work, perhaps one on color theory and how and when to use complimentary colors. Anyway we will see how that goes, I will let you know if I decide to do that, when and where etc.

SD Painter says:

I think doing one layer with loose strokes in the same color range and then smooting out the strokes as D C suggestes and using the first as a clone then the second for some areas may have some merrit to try, I will let you know.

Posted 89 months ago

GeorgeB says:

Bob-I am still confused about using D C method. I'll just keep trying.
