Kidnapped_Revisited

This is a revision on the piece submitted earlier. I have been trying to gain practice painting hair. I think the addition of handcuffs brings this image together with the title. Feel free to post critique,  good or bad......

AlienXS says:

I really really like the feeling and the use of light in this one, did you use a reference or was just from scratch?

Posted 125 months ago

ZenR says:

Thanks for the comment AlienXS, I used a reference as a visual aid on the pose, the rest was from scratch. I like a scene with good lighting. I have been working on lighting for a while now.

I can't make my mind up about the hair, something bothers me about it, mybe a bit too fluffy?!

Posted 125 months ago

ZenR says:

Appreciate your words Anna, you have been doing some great things yourself lately as well I see. Hi Sandria, thanks for your comment, the hair is an attempt at making the painting less realistic and more fantasy in feel. Have you checked out the one I did earlier? The hair was more realistic on that image.

The hair looks a bit like a feather hanging down, which I like. And nice addition with the cuffs.

ZenR says:

An honest comment DC, greatly appreciated.

Stan says:

Ya know Zenr, you've always seemed to give honest critique of my works, and they are always appreciated. With that, let me suggest that it's definatley not the hair, not the lighting, not the pose, but the title. I submit it suggests suffering, and this girl is much to attractive and well dressed and does not appear to be suffering. Myabe "locked up in Vegas" or more simply "cuffed". Just a thought. The picture definatley tells a story, the title simple captures it all.

ZenR says:

Thanks for that Imot, appreciate it. Hi Stan, you may have something there. I like the idea of vegas. I could perhaps think of loads of apt story lines / titles for this. Thanks for the crit.

Really chilling, I thought about giving the police a call, the lighting is perfect and it highlights the girls plight. Well done Patrick.

Georgian Design says:

Exciting, evocative picture with striking lighting and shadows. Perhaps it's just because I saw the earlier one first, but the hair here looks a bit like it came from another painting with a different color/lighting scheme. It does repeat the color and draw attention to the handcuffs, which is good. I wonder what it might look like to go back to the blond hair and use ropes instead? Just a thought. Well done.
